Under Construction

I recently finished reading Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. And I would recommend this book, or any of the variations of it, ie For Singles, For Teens, etc, to anyone looking to improve relations with anyone around them.

One of my favorite ideas from this book is about how "All of us our in process." It was suggested that we should walk around with a sign that said "Under Construction." I love this imagery. The idea that we are all broken and need a little extra care from those around us. It reminds me of the thought that hospitals are for the physically sick, and churches are for the spiritually sick.

The Five Love Languages as the book defines it is:
1 - Words of Affirmation
2 - Gifts
3 - Acts of Service
4 - Quality Time
5 - Physical Touch

What is your love language? I feel like I receive in one language and give best in others. I need to learn how to feel and understand the others. And how to recognize what is the language of those around me.

Food for thought:
* Love is a choice.
* Love is not an island of emotion, but rather an attitude that corresponds with appropriate behavior.
* What we dislike in others is often a weakness in our own lives. Dating can help us see ourselves realistically.
* Humanity's greatest contribution is in giving to others.
* Marriage is God's answer for humanity's deepest need - union of life with another.
