Dream Big
One song that has been in my mind for the last month is Dream Big by Ryan Shupe. Cheesy Mormon music isnt my favorite, but I really love and can relate to this song.
When you cry, be sure to dry your eyes,
'Cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile, be sure to smile wide,
And don't let them know that they have won.
And when you walk, walk with pride,
And don't show the hurt inside,Because the pain sill soon be gone.
(Chorus)And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean, blue.
'Cause when you dream it might come true.
But when you dream, dream big.
And when you laugh, be sure to laugh out loud,
'Cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all around and in yourself,
And it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to help to carry on,
But when the troubles come your way.
Dream Big. That is going to be my montra for 2008. Dream Big, cause when you dream it might come true.

Least Favorite Part of the Year
But it was all worth it to spend time with family. I was lucky enough to head to New York City for 24 hrs. I visited with my cousin and her adorable 5 month old. While my cousin was working, I went shopping with her cousin Vy. She helped me find some great buys in SoHo. I also got to see an old Boston friend Neil. Ahh. I love seeing familiar faces!
I then headed to James house. It was fun to open Christmas presents. I have to admit that Im pretty good at finding gifts for his family, and I dont think this year was any different! I just love seeing those happy, excited looks.
I have to say that its going to be hard to move away from the Northeast and James and his adorable family. Ahh, cant think about it.

180 degree Difference
The Unexpected
As I have been reminded of many different memories of him, Im mainly reminded of the amazing example he was. He was a very kind, friendly, service-oriented person. He was very talented and was an amazing carpenter. Ahh, and he had a boat. He loved to take people out. He loved to let others enjoy the water! . . . As its alittle hard to keep in contact with male friends once they are married, I havent actually talked with him since I moved out East.
After he got married and we were still attending UVSC, we would chat for hrs at school. He was always an easy one to talk with. Well. It is a small world, in the sense that his wife was my old roommate, Kristys, trainer from the mission. So I have been able to hear about how they have been doing over the years.
I dont know much concerning his death. His obiturary meanted that he passed in his sleep. He does have a son that turn 2 y/o 2 days after his death.
Its hard to deal with bad things that happen to really good people. I know that there is an eternal purpose to this life, and to all things that happen here. I know that he must have had a divine reason for heading back to Heavenly Father early. There are many people that will be effected by his sudden passing, but the gospel of Christ does help to offer peace and understanding.

Juror #15
So when I got my summons for jury duty, I really didnt know what to expect. I had no clue how it all worked. (I even asked my roommates what to wear! I mean, come one. On Law & Order, all the jury members are always in business dress.)
Day 1 - Jury Pool. I got to the jury pool room and checked in. I handed in a survey with basic info like place of residence, place of birth, occupation, and age. I was number 75. I waited in what reminded me of the DMV lobby back in Texas. I waited for about 2 hours before I was lined up with 10 others, and ushered in to a court room. They crammed about 120 people into this court that only sat about 40 people. The Judge introduced the case that she was picking jurors for. All she said was that it was a murder trial. She ran through questions like 1) did we know the defendant, 2) did we know the victim, 3) did we know any of the witnesses, 4) did we have an issue with police. . . There were others, that have totally slipped my mind. The judge then brought each of us to the side of her desk with both of the attorneys. She then asked if I said yes to any of the question, then after saying that I did not, I was asked if I would have a problem listening to witnesses that had a plea bargain. When I answered in the negative, I was told to have a seat. This is when I became known as Jury #15. One might remember the lovely movie of 12 Angry Men, and question why there were more than 12. Well. We had 16 jurors. They have 4 alternates that listen to the old case, and only after closing arguments do they find out that they dont have to make the final decision. (You can probably tell that I was not choose to be an alternate.)
Interesting Note. As a Juror, the only one that is allowed to speak to you are the Court Officers. The Judge will speak to you as a collective and only during open court. You are not allowed to speak to the Attorneys. Not in the elevator. Not in the hallway. Not in the local lunch spot. You are not to talk to your family, co-workers, acquintances about the case.
Day 2 - Field Trip. We took a bus ride to the scene of the crime. The only thing we knew about the case was that a kid was stabbed. We were usher in to the apartment in small groups as it was a small space. The Attorneys gave us instructions to take note of the apartment, to stand in the different doorways and take note of what we could see. The Judge was present to make sure that the law was upheld. The arresting officers were present. There were uniformed officers there also to make sure that no one would speak to us. After a tour of the apartment, we went back to the courthouse. It was interesting to see the passing cars stare at us. We were in a LARGE school bus painted blue and white and accompanied by a cop with flashing lights on both sides.
Opening Arguments. We finally learn the basics of the case, by both the Prosecuting and the Defense Attorneys. Bring on the Trial.
The Case. Roberto lived with his sister Yashira and a friend Jesse. They decided to have friends over and have a party. It started late. Friends were over and drinking starting around 11pm. Not only were partiers drinking Tequilla and beer, they were smoking weed. Jesse wanted a DVD out of Yashiras room. A fellow partier, Eugene, offered to get it. Eugene seemed to feel that he could do it as his cousin/friend was Yashira's Boyfriend and in the room too. After walking in and asking for the, Yashira and Eugene got into a verbal argument. Yashira was upset that she would be disrespected in her house. Roberto, and two friends of Roberto, Jamal and Country came to Robertos aide. A yelling argument turned into a fist fight. And a fist fight turned into a stabbing. Eugene was found bleeding from a 7 in gash. No one claims to see a knife in anyones hand, but the closest people to Eugene when someone yelled 'He's been stabbed' were Country and Roberto. The knife was then washed and hidden in Natick. It was said by witnesses that after being stabbed Eugene said that he was going to 'come back and shoot up the street.' Roberto answered him by saying that he 'would stomp his face' and spit on him. Eugene was taken to the hospital and soon after died.
Day 2-6 - Witnesses. We heard from Police, Detectives, Crime Lab Specialist, and dont forget the other party-goers. Oh the ever so helpful party-goers. I think the most amusing moment of the trial was when one of the witnesses, who was 17 y/o at the time of the incident, said that she was not longer intoxicated from her 15 tequilas and few beers because she smoked some weed! WHAT?? Really??. . .WOW. All of the witnesses for the Prosecution were friends and family of Roberto. The only witness for the Defense was the cousin/friend of the victim. Right there shows how messed up this case was. Oh and that last witness had his own trial the very next day for a separate offense.
Day 7 - Final Witnesses and Closing Arguments. Basically the attorneys just reiterated the same ideas and thoughts that were brought up during witnesses. Then it was Bingo time! They put all our juror numbers and names in a wooden bingo-like contraption. This is how they choose the alternates.
Deliberating. We were then taken back to our room. Given the rules about when/where we are able and not able to talk. And they shut the door on us. We didnt know exactly where to start. . . But needless to say we got under way, and things were very heated. And that was true for much of the deliberating.
Day 8 - Deliberating. I must say that I really had to realize the difference between probable and reasonable doubt. Anything could be probable. But was it a reasonable explanation if it was not him. This was hard for me. I didnt want to see the bad in him. I didnt want think about being a judge in someones life. (Growing up in the church, I really only thought about the judge in your actions as God. Not humans. But then I realized that Im not giving him a sentence for eternity, but just for this life. And Granted that doesnt make it better, but it made it somewhat livable for me.
Day 9 - Deliberating.
Day 10 - Deliberating. . . . We finally came to a conclusion/vote. We convected him of Murder in the 2nd Degree. WOW! He is going to spend the rest of his life in prison. Behind bars. WOW. That is something so beyond my reality. The Judge came up afterwards to Thank us for the time spent and the respect we gave to the situation. She answered questions for us. I was really appreciative that she took the time to speak to us. And then we walked away. Alittle shell shocked, alittle relieved that it was over, and alittle taken aback that we just decided the fate of another person.
So. That was alot of my experience. I did leave some things out. But I think you have a good idea of what I was doing for the last two+ weeks. I will say that I do see the importance of jury duty. I am very appreciative of the experience I have had, granted I wish that it wasnt for a MURDER trial. . . . But I also ask of you that if you do get summoned for Jury Duty, please dont immediately start to think of ways to get out of it. But realize that these people on trial are looking for and hoping for people that will take it serious. Its a civic duty. There are days that I would like to do more for the community. Well, here is definitely a way.
Here is a link to an article in the paper. Its alittle biases. And the defendant looks much scarier than what I saw during the trial.

Secrets!
I can say that today has really made something ovbious to me. 1) Put yourself in good places, and 2) Surround yourself with good people. It is soo apparent to me watch the life on another unfold before me, that these two ideas are so very important. I can remember the many sunday school lessons about "Standing in Holy Places," and other times when we are told to "Pick your friends wisely." Oh wow it is soo true!

Pride and Respect
Although I cant talk about what was going on, there is a thought that resurfaced these last few days. It first started a few years ago, during my Books & Basketball days. After getting to know a few kids, and becoming friends with them, I realized something. Maybe this isnt true for everyone, or for most people that grow up in an urban setting. But it was something that I heard alot about, and continue to see throughout my life in Boston. . . .
It seems that many, many people fight over a simply idea. Respect. Its not for food, shelter, clothes, education, or anything tangible. But for "Respect." An arguement can start from a simple look of disrepect, or a small, short disrespecting comment. But one thing that I dont understand, is that true respect is given when it is received. To truly respect a person, you will thus feel respect back from that person. Atleast, that has been my experience. But in this world where a person is willing to die in order to gain the respect that they think/feel they deserve, people arent willing to give respect in the same manner. So this leads me to wonder: What is "respect" then? What is it that they are looking for? What is it that they are willling to fight to the death for? . . . And how can we help to change this? How can we help to give them a real reason for living? This thus brings me to a discuss I had this evening with a few church friends. It was about bringing a broken heart and contrite spirit unto the Lord and he will make us the best we can be. When we truly give our desires and will to the Lord, do we then become who we were destined to be. Its is the Lord that we are to respect. It is the Lord that we are to fight to the death for. It is the Lord that turns the respect. Ok, maybe those arent completely coherant thoughts. (But it has been a long day, and is currently passed my bedtime. . . . )

Bless this Broken Road

Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or twoWiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Every long lost dream lead me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
It amazes me how much this one song has helped me in the past 6 months. There is just something so true about the words. And granted, I havent found the "You" spoken about in this song. I do feel that one day, when I do meet that "you" I will see how "you" were a Northern Star. Today, this song was on repeat on my iPod on the way to work. Many days does it get stuck on repeat. There is a power in music, that can touch your soul in such a way that many other ways cant. (I feel this power with photography also.)
I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Ahh. So many times, I have thought that Im just passing the time without my "you." But Ive come to realize that Im not just passing my time, but rather learning, and growing. There is a grander plan. One that is beyond my realm of understanding and knowledge, but that God has blessed this broken road that is my own!
The power of music! Thank you Rascal Flatts for this song.

Going Public
But I think its time. I think that Im ready to be a public blogger . . . I have enjoyed many friends blogs, and its time to return the favor. Granted, I really dont think I have much to share or that Im quite as eloquent as many of you. (Ok, actually I know that Im not. I am fully aware of it as it has always been a problem of mine. Just ask Josh Wolverton. He tattled on me in 3rd grade for looking at his paper when we were writing a "How To" paper from the teachers example. Pathetic, oh so pathetic!) But it might peek your interest during a long day at work.
Welcome to my life! :) Hope you enjoy.

Update
I bought 1 ticket to Brian Webb, and 1 ticket to Josh Ritter. (Count that: 1 ticket to each.) I want to enjoy the concert without worrying about whether or not the soul I found to go with me was enjoying himself. I feel good about my decision. . . . Not great, as that would have come if I didnt have to have this internal turmoil to begin with. But good, nonetheless.
I was watching the sad Red Sox game last night over at a friends house. And I was quite amused as this same discussion was brought up by a girl that bought Opera season tickets. The first one is coming up in a week, and she too was wanting to take a male companion, and didnt know who. Granted, I think that she is in a little harder of a spot as its OPERA. I mean, come on. That is going to take the right person, male or female, to 1) go and 2) enjoy. . . . But I was glad to know that I am not alone in my desire to do something that I want to do with a male companion. . . .

A Great Weekend!
Fri - Touring Boston! Val was able to join us. We started over by my old house, and wandered by the Christian Science Headquarters. Then through the Prudential/Copley Mall, on our way to the Boston Public Library, and Copley Square. We strolled down Newbury Street and through the Public Garden, and stopped at Figs for lunch. It was perfect timing, as there was a down pour. Time was getting close as we wanted to head over to Sam's Cousin house. So we took the train to the car, and then drove through Beacon Hill, Government Center/Faneuil Hall, North End, and then made our way through South Boston to Anns house. We spent some time with her, and then went to Legals Seafood for Dinner. Diana meet up with us. . . . And then to the Opera House for Wicked! What a great show. It was amazing. I forgot how much I love that stuff. (Thanks to my mother for making me join her countless times has she attended rehearsals for the local Repertory Theatre that she did costumes for.) The Opera House was so beautiful. And thanks to Melissa for an amazing find on the tickets. They were alittle more than we were wanting to spend, but TOTALLY worth it in the end. We were only 10 rows from the stage.
Chloe, me, Sam, and Melissa out in front of the fountain at the Christian Science Headquarters
Just before going into Wicked! I loved it
Black and White Ball at the State House. I must admit that church dance are just not my thing. I went to them when I was 14-15, but that was because in Plano, TX there isnt much else to do at night. But dances are not usually my thing. It was fun to be in the State House. It was fun to get dressed up. And it was fun to be with friends.
With roommate ME!
Are they Missionaries? Are they the men from Men In Black?
No, no. They are 2/3 of "The Dentals" Trio.
Chloe, Sam, and Melissa enjoying the State House
Sunday - Worship Service. Within the Mormon Faith, we attend a Sunday service called Sacrament Meeting. This is because the main reason for this meeting is to partake of the Sacrament. But we werent able to have the Sacrament, and therefore it was just a Worship Service. BUT it was such an inspirational, edifying, peaceful meeting. Between the musical numbers, and the speakers, the spirit was so strong in that room. I love my church. I love being a member. I love the other members that love and appreciate the Gospel as much/more than I. Elder Holland was able to speak to us again, along with Bro/Sis Clark, Bro/Sis Crittenden, and a few young people in the area.
Then I showed Melissa and Chloe the beautiful Boston Temple, and Mt Aubrun Cemetry. It was a great afternoon. After a good nap, we headed over to Anns house for dinner. Kathleen and Lizzie were there too. It was so fun to get to chat with them.
We headed back to Hartford, and got to chat with James and Megan before heading off to bed. They were amusing us with the "how we meet" story, and some other banter.
Mon - 5am trip to the Hartford airport. Im sad to see my weeken visitors go, but it was such a good trip. Im so glad that they come to visit.

Local Concerts
and love of others. A co-worker of mine is also a huge fan of the local scene in Boston, even a BIGGER fan than I. I know that might be hard to realize! But he told me about Josh Ritter playing at Club Passim in Dec! I missed his last concert a week ago, because Im lame and my concert-going, old roommate moved away and I would have had to actually make an effort to find someone to go with me. Such a lame reason. I can go to Antje Duvekot by myself, but for some reason that is totally different. . . .Morale dilima. Ok, not really a morale as there is no right or wrong decision. But a decision none the less. Do I just buy one ticket (as it is $35, which is $20 more than Club Passim tickets are normally) and just enjoy the show with no hassle of finding someone to go? Or buy a second and try and be social? And Brian is like three days before. Again, do I buy one ticket or two?
I know. This really shouldnt be a big deal. But for some reason, Im starting to get self conscience of the independence spirit that I have always seemed to be ok with. I mean, really. I dont want to be single forever. I should make more of an effort to spend time with people. Men, in particular. But . . . Agghhh. I just dont know. I really do just really enjoy my music! Especially Brian and Josh! :) Yes, Yes. We are on first name basis.

Bad to Worse . . . In a matter of moments
I took on this new position as a Circ Manager for the m/s Paul Gauguin. I didnt realize that the team was struggling as much as it is, or else I probably wouldnt have agreed to it. But yesterday was just simply a bad day. After weeks of being treated horribly by the Exec over the team, yesterday was just no different. I had to sit in a finance meeting, and be harassed by the Exec. And I just found out that I didnt in fact receive the full salary increase that I should have three months ago. I cant find any proof of what I agreed to. I would not be putting myself in this place for only a $2000 increase. Hello, $40 increase on a paycheck for dreading to go into work, for being yelled and treated horribly by my supervisor and Exec member, for dealing with backbiting, deceiving co-workers. I think NOT! . . .
This position has actually taught/made me realize more about my self. 1) I am a task-oriented person. Give me actual, concrete items to do, and they are done in a timely, effective, correct manor. But give me general ideas of things I can "look" at or analyze, and I blog stalk all day. 2) I am very much a follower. Dont get me wrong, I wont follow someone off a cliff or to the gates of Hell. But I do mimic or adjust to the personalities and situations that I am placed in. I remember thinking that during my crowning years playing soccer, I would have off games. And those were usually when we played against teams that were worse than us. In this position, I work with people that are just par or even below par. Therefore, I work at or below par. AND I HATE THIS. I am not an at par below par employee.
Learning: surround myself with good, ethical, hardworking people. But when I do find myself in a bad situation, find ways to rise to the occasion.
Back to the bitter sweet reason for feeling like Boston is still where I should be:
-I have really had the oppurtunity to grow spiritually. But its that what trials are for!?!
-Spend time with my family. Not just James and his family, but my cousin and her family
-I have meet some really amazing people. People that I want to more emulate in my life
-Roommates that given me the oppurtunity to serve
-Calling that has made me leave my comfort zone
-wearing shorts and flip-flops in OCTOBER!
I am happy to still be in Boston. I am happy to know that the Lord loves me and truly can direct my life if I but let him. I am happy to be in the place I am right now, even though I might not exhibit that happiness at the current moment as I am sitting at work just wanting the day to be over!

Passing Time
Today was alittle different as what I found to occupy my time involved laughing. (Ok, so maybe I found a few of these from blogstaulking. . . But anyways.) Not just a chuckle here or there. BUT out loud, the whole floor at work can hear, type laughter.
And here is why:

Brian Webb
I happened to check my myspace account. Shh, I know. Lame. But a while back I had commented on Brian Webbs Myspace page, simply saying "When are you playing here in Boston?" So, Brian ended up doing a concert on Sept 21 at this historical house in Jamaica Plains, MA (South Boston) and the guy in charge of the concert, sent me an email letting me know because of my comment on Brians page. . . Hope that made since. (Gosh, Im such a groupie)
So I emailed this dude right away, but it was still 3 days later. It was sold out, but that he would put me on the waiting list. After a day or so, I cleared the waitlist. I had asked for two tickets. So then I had to ask someone to go with me. Not wanting to ask a girl, unless it was a must, the wheels started rolling. As Brian Webb is one of my favorites, I couldnt just ask anyone. That might sound weird, but there is something about opening my music love to the world that doesnt sit easy with me. As I have become a fan of the music in a way that only Boston could have evoked in me, its hard for me to take just anyone. This is something that I learned after taking 15 people with me to Antje last year. . . . Needless to say, I ended up taking a friend that seemed to really like it. It was a very intimate concert. (ie 40 people in the living room of this old house. Once I walked in, Brian called me out by name, and we chatting for while before, during, and at intermission.) If Brian wasnt married, I would be all over that action! Hahah!
After the concert, we head over to JP Licks for ice cream. (For those not in Boston, JP Licks in one of the BEST ice cream places in town, and the JP stands for Jamaica Plains, the city that we were in.) We talked for awhile. . . .
Conclusion: A great way to spend a Friday Night! :)

Selflessness
Selflessness as been something that I have really been trying to work on lately. I think it sparked with my renewed desire to be the person I really want to be. So I have reflecting on those people that I admire in my life, and what qualities do they have that I want to have. And one of the main ones that I have noticed is that of Selflessness. Therefore, this has been my focus of life within the past few weeks. What can I do for other? What can I share with others? etc.
So when I got this email, I was excited to see what they had to share. . . . Let me share a few of my favorite lines:
"Our greatest blessings and deepest joys always come from helping others, from opening our hearts to someone in need. Service is evidence of our love, but it can also be its catalyst. While it’s true that we serve those we love, it is equally true that we love those we serve."
"Selflessness is usually not manifest in grandiose, dramatic ways but in simple, day-to-day opportunities and interactions we see around us."
This was a great reminder to me of the Savor and His example for us to follow. As I have been striving to make Him apart of my daily thoughts and actions, I know that truly emulating Him comes from selflessness desires.

Birthdays really arent my favorite day of the year. Something about it being at the beginning of the school year. Its a busy time of year. Friends are coming and going. Especially now in my life, friends are skattered across the country. But so far this one has been good. . . .

Motherhood
I was actually excited to go to their ward. I know a handful of families and it was fun to be in a "real" ward. You know. With families, and kids, and screaming during sacrament. Keeps the reality to life.
Well. It was interesting trying to keep twin 2 year olds from screaming for the same book, or talking about the book loudly, or keeping the 9 year old from eating all the snacks for the little ones. There were a few minutes when I was about to throw my hands up in the air. But an hour does seem to pass rather quickly when you are keeping others busy! Afterwards as I was cleaning up the books, some older gentleman came over to me and told me "I just wanted to come over and let you know that you are such a great mother." First reaction of mine was shear laughter! In order for me to have a 9 year old, I would have been giving birth as a 16 y/o! I politely thanked the man, and told him that I was in fact only the cousin to the mother. He seemed embarassed, but still told me that he was rather impressed with how patient I was with them throughout the meeting. WOW! I was thankful for the compliment. Dont worry! Im not running out to find the first sperm donor available. But its reassuring to know that maybe I will be alright at that whole motherhood thing, when it finally comes my way.

Family Time
My Uncle Ron is retiring from BYU. He has been a historian and professor their for years (Im not really sure how long, but I would safely say 30 years.) All of his children, Jen being the oldest of 7, were going to be able to attend. Except that Jon's 3 y/o was diagnosised with Leukemia earlier this week and so he will not be going out for it now. Please keep them in your prayers.
Well. . . . It will be an interesting weekend!

Wrong Stats
I was alittle bugged this weekend. I realized that I got 6 calls for Babysitting, and 0 calls for a date. Thats is right, a big, fat ZERO. My life is pathetic! I hope it changes, alittle atleast! Well, atleast Im making some extra money instead of wallowing . . . and hanging out with some of the coolest kiddos this side of the Mississippi!
Happiness!
My love for Nordstroms came during college. My roommate Courtney and I would go when it opened up in the Orem Mall. And we always had a great time, and there was this one particular sales associate that we just loved. She even reminded me a high school friend, Natalie Crofts Joyner. Well, my love for Nordstroms has just blossomed over the the years. Retail therapy is a very real thing, and this is one of those places that is top on my list. Until this weekend, I have had to drive all the way to Providence whenever I have wanted to go to Nordstrom. Well. Not anymore! This opened one in a town called Natick, MA. Its outside Boston about 12 minutes. They also opened a Zaras in the same mall. I have a feeling that I will being going often! The mall itself is gorgeous. It reminds me of those back home. . . . What a great way to spend a Saturday night than with good friends at great stores!

Thank You!
So, as this is only readable by my dear friends from my past and present, I just wanted to say that I think you are all great. And that I am fortunate to have known each and everyone of you. I love hearing from you, and know how your life has turned out since we parted ways.
I was reminded of the beauty of old friends last week. I had some time and so I spent an evening chatting with two friends. It was great to be reminded by friends that I have known for years that life is worth all the trials that we are given. One of my friends that I was able to speak with was a girl that I have known since I was about 10, it might have been earlier even. Our paths have crossed many times over the last 15 years. And the paths that we each have trodden, have been so different than anything that we could have imagined when we were Beehives/Mia Maids/Laurels/College Students, etc.
I must say that Im so thankful for the Church, for the understanding and guidance that it has given me in my life. I know that my life would be so different than what it is, and Im not sure that the difference would be something good or something to be proud of. Thank you to each of you for being an example and a friend to me.

DSSA Reunion
Who showed up to the lake: Me, Jason, Val, Gabe, Eddy, and my friends Ally and Michelle (Technically not my friend, but Allys)
Lisa, Val, and Gabe - The kids on the boat decided that they wanted to be funny and leave us in the middle of the Lake. Haha, They were bored without us and had to come back and get us.
Eddy, Michelle Kirk, Ally Baldwin. The girls are my addition, and Eddy was friends with Gabe, Jason, and Val during the program along with dated Sareh.Dinner at Macaroni Grill - Jason, Val, Lisa, Michelle, Ally, Sareh, Erik.
Val, Sareh Rajeea, Lisa, Jason
After dinner, Val, Jason, Me, Michelle, Ally, and Meagan (Jason's Girlfriend) went and saw No Reservations as it is a remake of Mostly Martha, which is a German movie that we watched during the program.
It was good to see the others from the program that showed up. I wish that some others came, like Nate Green, Leah Wyman, Justin DePre, Josh Kohn, and Shawn. (crap, cant remember his last name, but it has been 4 years!) Im just really glad that I have been able to stay friends with those that I have over the years. They are all so great, and amazing. Im so glad that I was inspired to go to DSSA. I really think that it was the place that I needed to go to. It was a mini-mission (of sorts) for me. I am really grateful for the guidance of the spirit in my life. Im amazed that I have had the great experiences that I have had in my life.

Love
Things like:
A smile from a fellow t-rider
An email from a friend just to say Hi, I was thinking about you
My morning scriture reading before heading off into the crazy, busy world
Walking to the T on a crisp, cool morning
Brightly-colored Houses
Good music on my iPod
My lovely niece and nephews in Hartford
A job that makes me grow personally and professionally
Beautiful, Sunshine Boston Summers
Sharing my peanut M&Ms with co-workers
A small childs laughter
I must say that these things are not always on my mind. Sometimes its the sorrows in life that invade my thoughts. But its the moments when the good and happy are resident do I feel like I can do anything.

Business Trip
I flew to FLL on the 925am flight, and made it to a 2pm meeting. I spent about 2.5 hrs at the office, and was done. So. What to do in a city you dont know anyone for 7 hrs before you go to sleep? Well. I first went to a movie. Never have the time for that these days. Then at 7, I wasnt hungry, so I headed to the beach. I didnt have a swimming suit, but I did get to smell the salty air and squish my toes in the sand. Humm. I guess time to get dinner. But my biggest pet peeve is to go to a restaurant by my self. I guess that is what the "Bar" is for. So I headed for BBQ, and the bartender first asks for what I want to drink. When I reply with 'Sprite,' he definately gave the 'this is going to be a great tab' nod. Eat some good bbq, took a desert back to the hotel (its on the company dime, might as well!), and then settled in for an hour of tv. And off to sleep. . . . PS The bed was huge! And all to myself. I wanted to call a friend or two for a sleep over. Oh yeah, all my friends are atleast 100s of miles away. Well then, to myself. ;(
Tuesday I didnt have a meeting until 11am, and that was my only meeting. It only lasted about 40 minutes. My flight wasnt until 745pm. Humm what to do for 6 hours? Well I didnt bring my swimming suit, and I just was wanting to get back. So I switched and got on the 130pm flight. I hurried and filled up the car, returned it, and made it to be gate by 1230. Everything was going just fine until we were flying over Providence (That place seems to haunt me!) and the fog rolled in and we werent able to land in Boston. . . . Needless to say that 4 hrs later, I was back in a plane going to Boston. In retrospect, I should have bought a new swimming suit, and gone to the beach!
I have more of that to look forward too.

Moving Day
About 2 hrs, 3 cars, and 7 friends later, and I was moved in. About 2 more hours, and my room was pretty much unpacked. I think that it was the easiest move I have been apart of, and considering it was for me, I love that! I still havent seen two of my roommates as they have been out of town. So I kinda just took the license to move into the kitchen, etc. I dont think they will be mad. Ill have to post a picture of what my "house" looks like. Its rather a funny looking front. Im not sure what the builder was thinking. . .
Bring on the new experiences, the new loves, the new friendships, the new roommates, the new, the new, the new! Im ready!

Solitude
I first headed to the beach. I have been hearing about Nantasket Beach for along time, so I figured as my other activities involved going to Southern Mass, I would try it out. . . It left so much to the imagination. The sand was this gray/brown color. Not inviting. It was ROCKY, and there was a hill. Not really conducive to lying on the beach. The water was way too cold. Just simply not impressed.
So I took off and meandered my way to the Finnish Suomi (Sauna). I love this place. Its a real, working Finnish Sauna. Its separates the men from the women, atleast from the sauna portion. You are able to throw water on the coles to heat up the room. There is a refreshing lake about 10 feet away from the door to dive into when the heat becomes unbearable. I just love going. You repeat this process as often as you would like. Its sort of family run, and just pleasent to go to. I just simply feel so much better, and sleep so much better when I go. (Some old guy 45+ was totally hitting on me. Not exactly what I was looking for. Something about him telling me about his son who is about to start college that was a complete turn off. I only graduated college 4 years ago.)
I have been wanting a new pair of jeans. So I headed off to the Outlets in Wrentham, MA. I really have liked my Joe Jeans that I found for such a bargain at Anthro awhile back for $20 (they are usually about $180). I knew that they sold them at the Off 5th Ave store. Well, they were still $100, which was alittle more than I really wanted to pay just for jeans. . . . So I headed to Nordstroms in Providence, which was only about 20 minutes from where I was. (I know, the gas really can make up that difference fast, but that is a different part of the budget!) There is something about Nordstroms that I just love. I cant really put my finger on it. But I was glad to be back! I really had fun and tried on all sorts of things. And I walked out with a pair of jeans, a cute yellow button down shirt, a white cardigan (Ive never had one, and always wanted one, Weird I know!) and a really adorable black and white Pok-a-dot dress. I have been on the search for great dresses so I was stoked for this find. . . I love great finds.
I had a great weekend. I know I spent most of it alone, but it was great. I know that I need to not enjoy my solitude Saturdays too much, as Im less likely to meet new people, yada yada. But this week, I didnt care!

A Precious Commodity
Im so thankful for the experiences I have had in life. For the places I have been in my life, those physical and emotional. For the people I have meet. For the oppurtunities I am yet to have.

Post July 4th
I was with Cheryl and Amy, as their husbands were in far away lands (or New York and Cali.) It was fun to hang out with them. Especially since Cheryl is moving to N Cali. After all the traditional 4th events, we took a ferry ride out to the "oldest" lighthouse in America, Brewster Lighthouse on Little Brewster Island in the Boston Harbor. (I quote it becuase everyone says there whatever is the "oldest.") It was really windy and we werent able to even get off. Which was fine as by this point I was feeling very under the weather with allergies.

Vanilla
Along with the new position, There came a new place for my desk, or rather, cube. I was working on the 6th floor of a 6 floor building. It is the 'Executive Floor', and, therefore, can be view by others in the company, as the "scary floor." There are stories circulating about how the owner would just show up to work, and do random things like fire people on the spot when he would pass them in the hallways. Or how he would ask you Gross Profit on the Top 5 Cruises in Europe. Or what was the average response rate of a Catalog promotion that was mailed to atleast 60% FTs. All alittle scary if these were not your areas of concern.
Well, I never had any negative encounters with him. In fact, my experience on the 6th floor was all realitively positive. I especially enjoyed those that worked around me. Lots of fun people, and wild stories to tell. . . .
But now, Im on the 5th floor. The decor leads one to think that its the money floor. In fact, a large portion of it is dedicated to Finance. There are also IS people, and Inventory people. And then the, sometimes, three Paul Gauguin people.
ITS SO QUIET! I can hear my self think. I can heard everyone's conversations. I can hear everyone typing. I can hear all the creaking from the floor about me. (Oh, how I know they are having fun up there. I know, I was there once.)
Im totally rethinking this whole new position thing. Is it really worth it?

BSO
It was my first Boston Symphony Orchestra experience, which is kinda sad as its around the corner from my house. It was "Oscar & Tony" night. They played music from Robin Hood, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Sound of Music, and a few others. It was great. I really enjoyed the conductor. It was Steven Mercurio. He was so enthusiastic, energetic, and just simply happy to be there.
It was an enjoyable suprise of an evening.

Paul Gauguin
Now I need to find a place to live. Arrgghh. The drama continues in my life. There was a posting on the church housing website for our ward for a in-law suite for cheap. After inquiring about it, I found the lady to be super weird and sketchy, wanting to know my whole life story and bishop reference before showing me the place. I did find a room to sublet for Aug, but that still leaves finding an actual place. I dont really want to find an apartment and girls to fill it. I just want to rent a room. Not finding much luck, especially since I want to save some money from what I have been paying.
But, even through all this drama, for some reason Im starting to feel like things will work out. Its not a feeling that I have had much over the last three weeks. Im glad that its coming though. I didnt know how much longer I could last without it. I love the gospel and the simple blessing of the Spirit in my life. Oh how it makes this crazy world doable! Im so grateful for it.

We-Ha
I stayed in Hartford Fri and Sat night. There is a bed in the Attic, but as the summer and Attics dont alway mix, I slept on the couch. The boys are early risers, and love waking me. (When it was just Taylor that would wake me, I could usually get him to dose off for a couple more minutes by playing the quiet game.) When I left Sunday night, Jack was just getting ready for bed. Being the cute little boy that Jack is said, "Weha, you gonna sweep on the couh?" It was just so cute. He is great. Really a sweet boy, when Taylor the defiant one isnt influencing him. Got love when a 5 y/o knows it ALL!

Wedding
Kent and Addie, 1 y/o cousins of Jack and Taylor. Grandma was very brave to put all 5 little ones (that including Addie's older sister Evie who is 3 y/o) in all White outfits.
A picture of the table. Not the best picture, but oh well. It was pretty. I really liked the chair covers as random as that is. I never have seen ones like this before.
So yeah. I didnt even get one of the Bride and Groom. Sorry, Kaitlyn and Chad. But I am sure that Dad the photographer probably did a better job than what I could do anyways.
