Ahh. My Heart is here!

I miss these little kids. I skipped work the other day, and went and played outside with the kiddos. My favorite though was playing at Chuck E Cheese with the boys.

I wish I even lived closer to them.

Baseball

I have been lucky enough to have been to two parks so far this year. First game was at the beloved Fenway Park. My boss gave me tickets to the 2nd game of the session! I took Kristy with me. . . .

And then I got tickets for the Giants vs. Cardinals while I was in SF in April. The AT&T Park was really nice. Here is a picture while at the park:

Saturday at a ballpark! What a great day. . . . PS dont look at the shirt. My cousin made me!

Exporting Commodity from Kenya

Did you know that Keyna's main Export is Marathon runners? When i first heard that today, I thought it sounded alittle 1800's. But that was an interesting fact I learned from my cell mate today at work. (She was surprised when she went on a tour there with my company, that everyone in the country runs, wins marathons, and brings the money home to their little village.)

The third Monday in April in Boston is know as Patriots day. Its a day the city celebrates history and . . . sports! Whether you are in the mood for watching a reenactment of the Battle on the Lexington green (Come one those history buffs! . . . Ok, will Ill jog the memory if I quote good ole Henry Wadsworth Longfellow when I say "One if by Land, and Two if by Sea?"), a Red Sox baseball game, or the largest marathon in the world (or atleast that is what my fellow Bostonians call it!), Boston is the perfect spot for any of that.

Man, I love this city. Im not really sure of the history of how all three events ended up on the same day, but who is complaining?! What a great way to get Spring Fever after a LONG and PAINFUL winter. But there is something about being out in Boston on Patriots Day. Enjoying the crowds, the excitment, the sun, the smells of Spring. Oh wow, I wish I got out from behind my desk today. Memories of years gone past are flooding my mind as I write. Humm. Must leave work . . .
Well, I havent posted for awhile, and Just thought I should start again by posting a short Ode to why I love this city. Im not sure if I will ever be able to leave. Honestly. If I ever do marry, this will be a discuss we have. And if he does make me leave, he better have something AMAZING on the bargaining table. Like traveling the world for a year!

High School, again

I remember thinking almost 10 years ago, that I could not wait to get out of high school. To move away from the drama and the ridiculousness that was high school. I hated dealing with friends that were jealous over things that just simply werent worth the time and energy to be jealous over. And Im starting to realize that that never changes.

I have a few coworkers that I just cant simply do anything right by. And we work close enough together, that things needs to be good. I have done all that I can, and it just isnt ever good enough. The only thing that I can really figure out is that they are jealous over a friendship that they dont have with a fellow coworker. Its so frustrating. Especially when these people are atleast 20 years my senior. Honestly people. . . .

Do you ever have moments that you simply want to know where someone from your past is, what they are doing, and how they are? I dont necessarily need to have contact with them. But just the understanding that they are healthy and happy is plenty for me.

For some reason, there is one person that has gone through my mind and my heart a lot lately. Im not sure why, but I cant seem to let him go. Ahh. Russ Williams. I would consider him a best friend while I worked at Pappadeaux. It was a short lived friendship. But nonetheless, one that has touched my heart for sometime now. When I left Pappadeaux for Boston, he was leaving to start a new job in Houston. We were connected at the hip in such a way that many people would ask me where my "husband" was when we werent together. Oh, how I would simply like to know that he is happy, healthy, and enjoying life where ever he is today.

I have many people that I have known for a short time in life, but that I care deeply for. I know that there is a reason that we are to meet each and everyone of those people. Whether that reason is for what we are to learn, or for what we are to teach. I just simply pray that I may continually be a place that the Lord may always use me to help others. And to help ease the pain of loosing those kind souls that have crossed my path.

Wow. I just remember a moment sitting in a friend's car (or someone that I claimed to be a friend) in high school. For whatever the circumstance, we were discussing that we werent going to be friends anymore. I expressed that this was going to be hard for me. And he told me that I just needed to let go, and that I just cared too much for other people. I was terribly hurt by that comment, as I was confused as to why that was a bad thing. . . . Its not a bad thing. Its really the opposite. If more people in this world cared "too much," oh what a different world we would be living in. . . . I wish I could still be that person I was in high school, and care too much for others. I seem to have become highly selective in my caring, and I wish to change that.

Long Time Away

I recently returned home after staying in 12 different hotel rooms in a 18 day period. CRAZY. Part of that time was spent for work, and the other part was for leisure. I went from San Diego, LA, San Francisco, Vegas, Phoenix, Tuscon, LA, and then back to San Diego.

Recap and Good Times:

- Spending 16+ hours a day with the same co-workers is simply too much. Learning: Dont do it!
- Visited San Francisco for the third time in less than a year. Good times spent with the cousin.
- Thank you Diana for driving for so long to see me!
- My boss went to church with me for the second time. I love my church, and I love to share it with others.
- Saw my nephew in LA. Cant believe that I have a nephew old enough to be in college.
- London Bridge. Not all that exciting.
- Slumber parties in company paid hotel rooms = Lovely!
- Spending time with the Hansen girls in AZ.
- Outlets in Palm Springs in which I found my new favorite bag.
- Glen Ivy Spa!
- Huntington Library in Pasadena, CA. Wish we had more time, as there is so much to explore.
- Eating at my favorite restaurants = Heaven!
- Lovely new flying friend.

Happiness

"Happiness isn't something that depends on our surroundings, Corrie. It's something we make inside ourselves." Corrie ten Boom was told by her mother, The Hiding Place.

I read this on the train this morning. And oh so true it rang in my ears, in my mind, and in my heart. Its exactly how I have been feeling lately. I feel 100% content in life. Granted, work has been the busiest it has been for me since I started almost 4 years ago. Personal life is crazy busy. Etc. But I really have been happy. I have been content. And I have been simply enjoying the life that I have created for me. Its not perfect. But its mine, and its great. There are still days that I feel like Im drowning at work, or what not. But I just wanted to remember these feelings I have been feeling lately.

I really do love Boston. I dont know if I can ever leave. . . . I fall in love with this city each and everytime I pass over the BU Bridge. For those that have never been here to Boston, come. Just walk across this bridge and look out over the beautiful city. There is something about that just melts my heart and makes me never want to leave. . . . Hahaha, but just dont do it during a blizzard like today. I dont think my love for the city would with stand being frozen to death on the bridge!
